The 44th APS Annual Conference
Darwin Convention Centre, Darwin, Northern Territory,
Australia
Wednesday 30th September - Sunday 4th October 2009
Welcome from the Conference Chair
On behalf of the Australian Psychological Society, I am
delighted to invite delegates to the 44th APS
Annual Conference, to be held in Darwin, NT, from
30 September to 4 October, 2009.
The conference will provide a unique insight into the
work of psychologists working in the ‘top end' of
Australia as well as profile the important role that
psychology holds at the cutting edge of research and
practice. There will be opportunities for delegates to
hear about the work of leading psychologists from the NT,
across the nation and internationally, in a program of
interactive fora, symposia, keynote addresses, and
posters.
The conference will be held on the water's edge at the
new Darwin Convention Centre, just a short stroll to
Darwin city, the eateries and restaurants of Stokes Hill
Wharf, and within easy reach of Doctor's Gully for the
famous fish feeding. Cullen Bay, the Crocodylus Park, the
Open Air theatre are just some of the man made wonders of
Darwin but for those more adventurous, consider adding a
day trip to the Tiwi Islands or Litchfield Park on the
edge of Kakadu. With more time, you can explore Kakadu by
4-wheel drive or helicopter, visit the famous Katherine
Gorge or even stop over in Alice Springs to visit
Hermannsburg or Uluru.
A range of accommodation is available with Darwin
boasting its newest 5 Star hotels adjacent to the
Convention Centre; others are within a 10-15 minute walk,
as are restaurants, shops selling Aboriginal art and
artefacts, and our famous South Sea Pearls.
I look forward to welcoming you to Darwin.
